Friends of Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge

The Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge is located in the northern White Mountain region of New Hampshire in the towns of Jefferson, Whitefield, and Carroll. It covers nearly 6500 acres of wetlands and forest, includes 3 ponds, and has a wide variety of wildlife, especially birds. It is a division of the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge and is managed as a conservation partnership by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, New Hampshire Audubon, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, and the New Hampshire Bureau of Trails. Designated a National Natural Landmark in 1972 by the National Park Service, Pondicherry is one of the natural treasures of New Hampshire that can be enjoyed in any season.

 

The Friends of Pondicherry is an informal group of volunteers that is headed by David Govatski, a retired forester and longtime volunteer at the refuge. The group maintains trails at the refuge and helps out with other projects.
